Every bag tag out of O'Hare says ORD, and most people never stop to ask why. O'Hare was Orchard Place first, an airfield where Douglas built C-54 transports during World War II. It was renamed for Navy pilot Butch O'Hare in 1949, scheduled flights began in 1955, and the old code stayed. Wear it for every early flight, every pickup at arrivals, and every time you came home and saw the lights.
