CHICAGO RIVER
Every March a plumbers' union turns the Chicago River green. The idea started in 1961, when a plumber's overalls came back green from the dye he used to trace leaks. Mayor Daley wanted Lake Michigan. They settled for the river. The first dyeing, in 1962, took about 100 pounds of dye. Today it's about 40.
On the shirt: the bascule bridge across the back, the river under it. The six-county mark stitched at the left wrist.
- Bone: Cotton Heritage fleece, 8.5 oz, 100% cotton face, 65/35 cotton-poly
- Our own label inside the neck: the mark, Mayvick and Ps 133:1
- Runs small: order one size up
Care: machine wash cold, inside out, gentle cycle, with like colors. No fabric softener or bleach. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Do not iron the stitching.
