CHICAGO RIVER
Two last names, one name on the tag. Mayvick started with two brothers from Algonquin.
In 1900 Chicago turned its river around. The city broke a dam early on a January morning with almost no announcement, because St. Louis was getting ready to sue. The Chicago River has run away from Lake Michigan ever since, down a 28-mile canal. In a big enough storm the locks open and it runs the old way for a day.
On the shirt: a plan map across the back, arrows pointing the way the water doesn't, with CHICAGO RIVER and the story set small under it.
- Back print, two inks, with the mark and Mayvick wordmark printed tone on tone at the yoke
- ROBEY ST. DAM / JAN. 2 · 1900 printed in tone at the left chest: where and when the dam was cut
- Lemont Stone (Bone): Cotton Heritage fleece, 8.5 oz, 100% cotton face, 65/35 cotton-poly
- Our own label inside the neck: the mark, Mayvick and Ps 133:1
- Runs small: order one size up
Care: machine wash cold, inside out, gentle cycle, with like colors. No fabric softener or bleach. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Do not iron the print.
