FERMILAB · BATAVIA · KANE COUNTY · STAFF PICK

There are bison grazing behind a particle accelerator. Fermilab is the national physics lab in Batavia, west of Chicago, and its first director, Robert Wilson, started the herd in 1969 to tie the lab to the prairie. About two dozen adults still graze it. The old rumor says they're radiation detectors. Fermilab says they're not. The bison aren't talking.

Prairie Path (Khaki), also in Bay and Ivory, 6.1 oz ring-spun cotton, garment-dyed, relaxed fit. Six bison across the back with Ps 50:10 small at the back of the neck, a small bison and the mark stitched at the chest.

Care: machine wash cold, inside out, gentle cycle, with like colors. No fabric softener or bleach. Tumble dry low or hang dry. Do not iron the print or the stitching.
