Drive Higgins Road and watch for a 17-acre pasture with elk in it. They've been there since 1925. The official name of the preserve is Ned Brown Forest Preserve.
The herd is small: three in 2018, four in March 2022, so don't promise yourself a sighting. The reservoir next to it was built in 1978, and a 7.3-mile paved loop runs around it.
